Capturing a chat with your childhood heroes.

The Parenting Tools podcast first took off on TikTok. Two dads chatting about the ups and downs of parenting. For this episode, they interviewed some special guests in person.

Podcast Guests: Martin and Anna Smith with hosts Jordan and Jason

Jordan and Jason normally film and host their podcast, which means they can not monitor for anything that goes wrong in an in-person interview, which is where I come in. Not having to think about filming and audio themselves gives both Jordan and Jason the space to concentrate and engage in the conversation with their guests.

One of the challenges for me was that, as we were filming in the guest home, we had to find the most suitable location and bring the minimum amount of kit, and we didn't know what the space looked like before we arrived to film.

When filming, the two location options were the lounge space or the large kitchen island (which we chose), as both sections were in the same space with large glass bi-folding doors. The main issue with them is the possible change in the strength of light. This meant we needed a good key light on all subjects.

This all resulted in a natural conversation which really flowed throughout the episode. The guest felt comfortable, and it edited well for both 16x9 and vertical podcast formats.

Working with Sarah is a total breeze. You can be fully confident that she will have every aspect of a production covered, and the end result will be top quality. She's organised, reliable and consistently delivers - so much so that whenever I'm running a project, she is one of the first people I'll call. -
